Summertime yoga

We are in the midst of Pitta season. In Ayurveda, the ancient science/wisdom of life, the term Pitta refers to the energy of Fire and Water ( think lava). The hot and active Summer months from June to August are when Pitta predominates and we have to take extra precaution to keep ourselves cool and balanced. In our yoga practice, we try to slow down and open up our hearts. We practice cooling pranayama, enjoy more restorative poses and longer shavasana.
